SATHI Portal Seed Traceability Guide

Published: August 28, 2026 By: Tech Traceability Specialist Technology & Portals

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, launched the SATHI (Seed Traceability, Authentication and Holistic Inventory) portal to address seed quality control, eliminate spurious seeds, and trace seed packages.

1. Seed Traceability Mechanics

SATHI maps the entire lifecycle of a seed batch. From breeder seeds allocated by ICAR/Universities, to foundation seeds multiplied on certified farms, and finally certified seeds sold to growers, the platform creates a digital chain of custody.

2. Online Breeder Seed Allocation

Seed companies must request breeder seed allocation through the portal. Once approved, the breeder seed source code is linked to the company’s profile, allowing them to register foundation multiplication plots.

3. QR-Code Printing & Labeling

Every seed bag processed under SATHI must carry a certification tag with a unique QR Code. Farmers can scan this code with a smartphone to view crop variety, lot number, certification date, testing lab name, and germination rate.

Conclusion

Transitioning to SATHI-based tagging is essential for maintaining distribution compliance across all Indian states. Contact our technical team for registration and tag-printing setup support.
