What is the difference between SAU and ICAR field trials?
SAU trials are conducted at the state level by State Agricultural Universities to evaluate regional adaptability. ICAR trials are coordinated at the national level (AICRP) across different agro-climatic zones for multi-state notification and release.
How is genetic purity verified in variety releases?
Genetic purity is verified through a Grow-Out Test (GOT). In a GOT, seed samples are grown under controlled conditions alongside parental controls to record and compute off-types based on morphological markers.
